What is Reishi mushroom ?

Lingzhi (or reishi, different name for the same plant) is a mushroom species that has long played an important role in traditional Chinese medicine, Japanese herbal medicine and Ayurveda. In China, reishi mushroom is even hailed as the "mushroom of immortality" - for such an honorary title, you have to have something going for it.

And that is what reishi mushroom has. An impressive number of health benefits are attributed to the mushroom: that it is a powerful anti-inflammatory, for example, and therefore a faithful companion in fighting a host of ailments.

What reishi mushroom is also good at is lowering blood pressure and increasing resistance and the immune system. This is thanks to its high concentration of natural vitamins, nutrients, antioxidants and adaptogens. The latter are clever little substances that can adapt their function to the specific needs of your body, a kind of army of chameleons. Adaptogens appear to be ideal for tackling stress.

How does the reishi work?

The mushroom also works wonders in skincare products. For example, the mushroom is naturally rich in beta-glucans, substances that support the hydration of the skin, have a calming effect, refine wrinkles and lines and ensure a smoother complexion.

In turn, the antioxidants in litmus mushrooms stimulate the skin's renewal process and protect against sun damage, thus halting premature aging.

In addition, the capsicum inhibits skin pigmentation and the mushroom helps to repair and strengthen ceramides, the protective layer of your skin - which can use some extra help as you age. Thus, moisture loss is prevented and your skin remains supple.

Which skin could use some reishi mushroom?

People with red, irritated or sensitive skin can benefit from resihi mushroom. And people with rosacea or acne. But also people with dry skin. Or people who want to strengthen their skin barrier, so that the skin remains well hydrated and firm, and allergens do not have a chance to spoil things. In short, reishi mushroom (in Asian regions not for nothing the symbol of good luck, healing and well-being) is good for any skin.

How do you use reishi ?

In our Soothing 5-plant extract serum, in addition to the five 5-plant extract (we mention: tiger grass, licorice root, panthenol, escin and calendula), we have added reishi mushroom. It is the ultimate combination of active ingredients to soothe sensitive skin. This Routinely serum effectively reduces redness, conditions the skin and feels soothing when you apply it.

How to do it. Simple. Morning and evening, apply two to three drops in your palm, on your fingertips, or directly to your cleansed face and neck. Gently massage or pat the liquid into your skin. Wait for the serum to be fully absorbed and then use a moisturizer to make sure your skin is retaining all the good stuff.

What can you combine reishi mushroom with?

The Soothing 5-plant extract serum with reishi mushroom can be combined well with all our serums. It is especially suitable for people with sensitive skin. For example, if you find exfoliating a bit exciting, or it's new to you, you can use the Soothing 5-plant serum in the same routine as our Sunday exfoliating serum. This will ensure that the Sunday exfoliating serum will be even gentler on your skin than it already is.

At Routinely, we create our formulas with a minimalist mindset. We only use proven active ingredients in the right dosage to ensure maximum efficacy, without irritation. No fillers, additives or fragrances.
